Raisa was born within Los Angeles with her parents. Irlanda Almendarez & Italia Almendarez. Her first name, Francia, is Italian for France. Italia as well as Irlanda are both Italian names that refer to Italy. Virginia Almendarez, her mother is from Mexican origin, while Renan is from Honduras. Renan adopted the name El Cucuy shortly after the birth of Francia. He is an internationally acclaimed Latino radio DJ and well popular within Los Angeles. Her sisters were raised in a family with a well-known dad. She has a good command of Spanish as well as English. When she was five years old, Francia was enrolled for dancing lessons with her parents. There was no limit on the type of dances which was taught. All dance forms were included, from tap dancing to Polynesian along with hip-hop. Additionally, she attended lessons in various sports, including Karate and ice skating. In the final year in junior high school Francia also took classes in modelling and acting. Francia attended Bishop Alemany School located in Mission Hills (California) for her high-school education. It was then that she began modeling for national print and television commercials. The ads she appeared in were for JCPenney, Walmart and other organizations.
